Persphone & Hades

Persephone and Hades is a Greek lore about the goddess of spring and the god of the underworld. The lore is that Persephone is lured away from her home by Hades. She goes down to the underworld and eats a couple seeds of a pomegranate which ties her to the underworld and can only visit earth 3 months out of the year and that’s why we have spring. Another part of the lore that is forgotten is that Hades and Persephone fall in love and she also becomes queen of the underworld. 

I wanted to show Persephone's innocence in the first image but as she chooses the unconventional of going against her mother Demeters wishes. She’s choosing the darkness with Hades, she grows and becomes more powerful. She is still the goddess of spring but also the queen of the underworld. We all have darkness inside of us and we are afraid of it. Persephone had that power inside of her to be the queen of the underworld but it wasn’t until she accepted those dark parts of herself ,that she was able to use them as a strength.
